} 021 - [VIDEO] - it had to happen eventually
[Amanda is broadcasting from the infirmary, and she looks like hell. She's death-tolling after Hoffman punctured her lung and broke every bone in her body, ending in her neck, and is in agony from head to toe. She's got an oxygen tube in her nose because it hurts to breathe too deeply.]
John introduced me to a lot of things. There were many nights where we'd read each other poetry, or works of philosophy. He'd put on classical music just for me to hear it, and when his headaches became too awful for him to focus his vision on words, I'd read to him from some of the great works of literature. Or we'd watch a film.
[She's not just saying this to show Hoffman exactly how much John favored her. She's working up to a point.]
He brought me into a world I was too disadvantaged to experience. I was his daughter, and I would give anything for him. If he told me he needed my arm for something, I'd grab an axe and politely inquire if he'd mind fitting me with the fucking tourniquet.
[She pauses with a look of shock, because OH SHIT. That was an accidental confession, and the honesty was particularly horrifying in a way she did not want shared with the world. She quickly decides to pretend it never happened.]
In addition to everything else, he taught me about the mythologies of many cultures; right now, the tale of Prometheus comes to mind. For his crimes against the gods, Prometheus was bound to a rock, and every day a fearsome eagle would come to tear out and consume his liver. After each consumption, the liver would grow back, only to be eaten anew the next day. A never-ending torment.
[Thanks for your patience, audience! She's finally arrived at her point, and her expression becomes one of pure, seething hatred.]
Listen to me, Hoffman, because for you? I am that eagle. I will make you pay for what you did to him and to Jill, and you will always, always come back good as new. For every restoration, I will kill you again. You failed your test, and until the death you earned manages to stick...well, I'm sure you know.
I said I'd give anything for him, and this is it. The rest of my existence will be spent ensuring that he and the love of his life are avenged.
