SPAM for George Crabtree - late evening

[Amanda stands outside George's door for a few minutes, shifting her weight from foot to foot. She doesn't get "crushes" anymore; if she can't stick someone in a trap and then present the recording to George as a token of her affections, what other way is there to grab his attention? That always worked for John.

She had to find a different way to show him that she'd taken notice of him, and what better way than to exercise her quiet stalking skills? Carefully, she slips the manilla envelope she holds under his door. Inside are candid photographs she'd taken of George throughout the day: in the corridors, eating in the dining hall, etc. Atop these is a little note, written in her most flowery handwriting (which really isn't at all flowery, just less cramped and rushed), that reads "I've been observing you."

She means it in the most benign way possible.

That done, she knocks loudly on his door and sprints around the corner, to watch without being seen.]

[She gives the note a cursory glance before handing it back.]

Maybe...you have a secret admirer.

Oh, no. I'm sure that isn't it.

[Her eyes narrow.]

And what makes you so sure?

Well. I'm just not the sort of fellow ladies secretly admire.

[creatingalegacy]

Oh. Well.

[She looks down at her feet.]

Maybe you just don't give yourself enough fuckin' credit, George.

How do you mean?

I mean...just because you think it, that doesn't mean it's true.

I suppose not, but I feel I would have noticed if any of the young ladies favored me like that. I'm very observant.

[Softly, to herself:]

Less observant than you think.

[George gives her a kindly smile.]

I think you may just have St. Valentine's Day on the mind, miss.

[Amanda looks at him with what she hopes is a disbelieving, disapproving expression. It doesn't quite work, but she scoffs anyway.]

I don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

[Damn her sudden inability to admit to it!]

[She's trying so hard to sound above it all, and it's just not working.]

You haven't got to have a sweetheart to enjoy the day. You can give tokens to friends to show that you care. I certainly plan to do so.
